Depth of Field
Abstraction: looking at something simple from an unusual perspective; out of the ordinary.
Examples:
"Tobey Pond" by David Hilliard
The first and third photo uses a variation of shallow depth of field. This frames the people and blurs the background, adding a dreamy-like effect.
Gregory Crewdson
There is a very limited depth of field. Despite this, I think the limited depth of field allows people to see every aspect of the image. Every detail really matters and is shown to convey a message.
Examples:
shallow depth of field portrait by Robert Farber
shallow depth of field still life by Harold Ross
